Wild Bird Series: Magpie

It’s bird season on the blog! Exotic/Wild birds to be exact….are you ready for a new makeup series?! I am! For this series I will be pulling inspiration from some of the most beautiful exotic birds around. And I’m so excited, because… the looks will be full of color!

So let’s get started with our first bird!

Fun Facts:

  1. They’re afraid of shiny things

  2. They’ll eat anything! Even birds eggs and chicks…

  3. They are related to the Crow, Jays, and Ravens

To get started, I applied Urban Decay: Primer Potion all over the lid, and along the lower lash-line.

Next I applied Nyx Cosmetics: Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean to the inner and outer corner of the eyes, leaving the middle of the lid empty

Set Black Bean with any matte black eye shadow. I used Too Faced: Gingerbread Cookie Palette and applied Black Coffee right on top of the cream base.

Using a dome shaped blending brush, I blended Black Coffee slightly into the crease

To add that pop of color, I applied Nyx Cosmetics: Jumbo Eye Pencil in Electric Blue to just the center of the lids

Blend it slightly into the black, just to blend it better. To set Electric Blue, I applied Makeup Geek: Eye Shadow in Mermaid

To add a little more iridescence to my eyes, I applied a very light shimmery gold to my crease.

I applied Omen from the Urban Decay: Urban Spectrum Palette to the inner corners.

To my water-line and tight-line I applied Urban Decay: 24/7 Eyeliner in Zero.

Using a small smudging brush, I applied Mermaid along the lower lash-line.

To add some more depth and color, I used Chella: Eyeliner Pen in Bleu Indigo.

I applied a thin line, right along my top lash-line.

To finish the eyes, I applied 2 coats of Too Faced: Better Than Sex Mascara.

And your eyes are complete!

For lips, I wanted a bright blue, just like the iridescence on the Magpie. I used L’Oreal: Infallible Paints in Domineering Teal.

Your Magpie inspired look is complete!
