Tarte Winter Wonderglam: Blue Makeup Tutorial

I feel like a lot of people avoid blue eye shadow, but I gravitate towards blues whenever I see them in a palette….I’m not sure why, to be honest. Maybe because blues look good with my brown eyes? Who knows…. But this blue eye look is here to show you that blues can definitely be rocked without feeling like you’re Mimi from The Drew Carey Show, hahah.

I only used ONE palette for this look, crazy right?! I usually use like 3… For this look I used the Tarte: Winter Wonderglam Palette

Since this palette unfortunately doesn’t have any names for the eye shadows, I took pictures and circled each color as I use them

With more dramatic looks I like using cosmetic tape to help give me a nice crisp edge

I started with a transition color, to help the dark blue blend a lot better, I mostly blended that into my crease, as you can see above

Next it’s time for that blue! I’m so excited about this color, it’s matte and dark and beautiful

I used a super fluffy blending brush when I applied the blue to my crease. I kept blending and adding more of the color to get a nice blend and evenness

Since the blue is matte, I wanted to add a shimmery highlight to my brow-bone

The highlight also helped me blend out the edges of the blue

I wanted a really strong color pay-off for my lid, so before applying any eye shadow I applied Urban Decay: Primer Potion and NYX Cosmetics: Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk

Now you are probably wondering why my lid is blue….some shadow from the crease got on my lid, therefor it mixed with the Milk pencil and turned it light blue, but it turned out fine

Next I applied a really strong shimmery silvery/grey color to my lid. I packed it on top of Milk using a flat shading brush

For my lower lash-line I smudged the darkest color in the palette along my lashes

I don’t really like doing thick eyeliner lines if I’m not doing false lashes, also I’m always worried I’ll make the line too thick and cover all my eye shadow, so I stuck with a thin line and a little wing. Using Tarte: Tarteist Liquid Eyeliner

To finish the eyes I applied 2 coats of Tarte: Maneater Mascara

     The eyes are now complete!

But we can’t have a full makeup look without a good strong lip color. I used Bite Beauty: Power Move Creamy Matte Lip Crayon in Acai Smash

And here’s the look all wrapped up together!
