Saturday Reviews! Em Cosmetics

I’ve watched Michelle Phan’s YouTube videos for years, and I really enjoy her beauty videos. When she first launched her makeup line I knew I had to try it out. I didn’t want to put out $75 right away before testing out the product to make sure I really liked her makeup line. So when I found out she was running a deal on her website I knew I had to take advantage of that. The deal is over with now, it was only for Labor Day weekend. You could purchase a sample of any life palette you wanted for only $10. This sample includes a full size lipstick and 3 full size eye shadows. I went for the Love Life life palette in Warm Fuzzies.

This sample size contains a deep bronze-like brown, a deep purple, and dark teal. Which all have a little shimmer in them. The full size lipstick is this deep berry color with shimmer.

Bronze-brown eye shadow: This color is beautiful, and my new favorite brown eye shadow! It’s a very soft shadow that goes on your eyelid very smoothly. It’s highly pigmented with the help of a base, I prefer to use Bourbon eyeliner from Urban Decay. The eyeliner matches the shadow perfectly and helps show the eye shadows true color payoff.  Deep purple eye shadow: I’ve used a lot of purples throughout my years of wearing makeup, and I don’t have many purple eye shadows anymore. So when I saw that this color was in the palette I chose I got excited. It is not as dark as it looks after being applied, but it’s a beautiful color. Like the bronze-brown eye shadow, this one applies very smoothly. Dark teal: I’m a little skeptic when it comes to teal eye shadows, the ones I’ve bought in the past weren’t always true to their stated color. But this one was different, it goes on your lid exactly how you see it in the pan. For me I prefer to smudge it on top of Flipside from Urban Decay, this eyeliner helps enhance the eye shadow and helps it last a lot longer.  At first I tested these shadows on my eyes without the help of eyeliner bases, I only used Urban Decay Primer Potion.

As you can see in this picture the colors are not that vibrant, so I knew to get them to their true potential I’d have to use a base with similar colors.

Here you can see with both of those Urban Decay eyeliners I was able to intensify the eye shadows!

Berry lipstick: I was excited about this lipstick because I’ve seen many posts from Michelle Phan on Instagram showing how pigmented her lipsticks are. The color is exactly what you see in the pan, a deep berry color with a hint of shimmer. Honestly my favorite thing about this lipstick was the smell, it reminds me of the smell of Mac LusterGlass in the shade Wonderstruck.

If you’re thinking of purchasing products from emcosmetics.com I highly suggest trying them out in small sums. I plan on purchasing the Life Palette: Beach Life in the future. I’ve seen some people on the internet complain about the pricing of her makeup, but you have to remember that she created a high-end makeup line. I can say with confidence that this is a good brand, and I will continue to purchase from this brand in the future. I definitely recommend her makeup line to everyone!
