Saturday Reviews! Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm

     So for my September Ipsy bag one of the products I received was a Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Big Apple. I was excited to try out this product because of how is was conducted. Not only did I love the color I saw in the pot, but I loved how the lid came off and there was a lip brush attached. I thought it’d be the perfect lip product for on the go! 

     My first test with it was with my finger, just so that I could get a feel of it. See if the textures was like most lip balms. Unfortunately I was disappointed, it didn’t apply smoothly at all. And it felt really dry, it reminded me of a lipstick. Not what I was expecting from a tinted lip balm, I wanted moisture and a very sheer color.       I decided to try it out with the brush, and I also applied a small amount of my Carmex to my lips beforehand (without letting it soak in). It worked exactly how it should! With the help of my Carmex the tinted lip balm went on smoothly and evenly.  Pro’s:

Ingredients: Propylene Glycol, Dicarpylate/Dicaprate, Isopropyl Myristate, Ozokerite, Mineral Oil, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Dimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Kaolin, Silica, Bha, Decylene, Glycol, and Methylisothiazolinone. 

   Personally I wouldn’t see myself repurchasing this product, I do not think it is worth $19.00. Also I don’t want to have to use another lip balm just to apply this one smoothly, even if the color pay off is amazing. I don’t think this product should be called a tinted lip balm, a lipstick is a better way to describe it. I can’t say for sure that all of the other tinted lip balms from Cailyn are like this one, but I’m pretty sure the formula would be the same. I have not gotten the chance to try out any other makeup products from them, but this product won’t stop me from trying. Always remember that not every beauty companies products are all perfect.
