Princess Series: Ariel (The Little Mermaid)

“I wanna be where the people are. I wanna see, wanna see them dancin’.

Walking around on those – what do you call ’em? Oh – feet!”

It’s time to continue my Princess Series with the lovely Ariel!

I started off a little backwards with my makeup…I did my foundation first! My look requires a little head gear to create some effects, and I didn’t want to risk doing my eye makeup first, and then add my facial special effects and ruin my eyes!

I only applied foundation and setting powder. For this I used Maybelline: Fit Me Foundation in 115. And for setting powder I used Laura Mercier: Translucent Setting Powder.

Next for the fancy effects!

Using fish net leggings (I recommend the cheapest one, don’t go all fancy just to wreck them with makeup!) This technique will help you create “Scales”.

Since the holes aren’t as wide as I wanted, I had a little help from my sister to spread out the fish nets along my face!

Using a stiff buffing brush, mix Deep End and FlashBack and pick spots where you want your “Scales” to be on your face, and start stippling, swiping the brush will make the product try to blend together under the fish nets and you’ll lose the effect you’re going for…I made that mistake and had to start over.

I did this on both sides, kind of like contouring.

To add a little more dimension and color, using the same buffing brush (wiped it off first) I applied Omen to part of my forehead. Still over the fish nets!

Time for the eyes!

Starting off with Urban Decay: Primer Potion, apply it all over the lid and along the lower lash line.

Next to help intensify my shadows, I applied L’Oreal: Silkissime Eyeliner in Cobalt Blue all over my lid, this liner dries fast, blending it out can be a little difficult.

Taking a large flat shading brush, apply Deep End all over the lid.

You can take blending it out up to the brow bone, you really want this color to shine!

To darken up the outer corner, using a small stiff dome-shaped brush, I applied Prank to the outer-v.

For liner, I applied L’Oreal: Silkissime in Violet Pur

After applying the liner to your water-line, apply NYX: Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk to the inner corner of the eye.

Smudge Makeup Forever: Eye Shadow in S-924 Purple. (Far right color), along the lower lash-line, and on top of the Milk Jumbo Eye Pencil.

Time for more effects!

Using Duo: Lash Glue, apply a thin layer all over the lid.

Using either your fingers or tweezers, apply your glitter on top! I used Recollections: Chunky Glitter in Marine. You can purchase this at Michael’s Craft Store.

To finish off the eyes, apply a thick coat of mascara. I opted out of putting on false lashes, there was already enough weight on my lids. I used L’Oreal: Lash Paradise Mascara

Eyes are complete!

I wanted to emphasize Ariel’s red hair, but I didn’t want to showcase on my lips, I chose my eyebrows instead!

Using Urban Decay: Naked Skin Concealer, I applied a thin layer over my brows to lighten them.

I didn’t have a red eye shadow or red blush, and I didn’t want to go out and buy one. So I found a substitute! Lipstick! Using Stila: Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso.

Using a thin angled brow brush, follow the natural shape of our brows.

In most pictures I found, Ariel’s lips were more of a pink, instead of a red. I used TooFaced: Melted Matte Lipstick in Candy Cane (Holiday Collection 2016).

And now you can play yourself off as Ariel…or at least closer to Ariel than you were before!
