Makeup Brush Cleaning!
How often do you deep clean your makeup brushes? Or even spot clean them? Well if you haven’t recently and you’re just reading this now, then I suggest you go clean them now! Bacteria grows quickly, especially if you don’t keep your makeup brushes clean regularly. Let’s just say you have acne, and you don’t spot clean everyday or deep clean your brushes every once in a while, you’d see no change in your skin, right? If you clean your brushes after each use it will wash away any bacteria from your breakouts, and you’ll have a better chance of keeping the acne away. Spot Cleaning: (Almost most makeup brands have a brush cleaner spray. I use the Sephora Daily Makeup Brush Cleaner) Spritz your cleaning spray directly onto your brushes. Next take a clean hand towel (light color) and wipe off your brush until you don’t see any makeup coming off of it. Spot cleaning products typically dry fast, so you’ll only have to wait about 10-15 minutes until your brushes are dry enough to use again.
Deep Cleaning: (I use Johnson Baby Shampoo because it’s very mild) Wet your brushes and use about a pea size of shampoo for each brush (that amount depends on how long it has been since you washed your brushes, and how big the brush is.) Swirl the soaped up brush into your hand and slowly rinse until there isn’t any product coming off. After you’ve completely rinsed your brushes off lay them on a clean towel to dry overnight.
*You may have to repeat the Deep Cleaning steps in case there’s a lot of product still stuck in the brush.
Also! Always remember to wash any makeup brushes right after purchasing, and before using them for the first time. You never know what chemicals or bacteria’s have ended up on them from the stores and factories.
In my opinion, I’d suggest spot cleaning after every use (or even after every couple of days) and deep cleaning once a month. If you don’t wear makeup very often then you can clean your brushes according to the amount of use!
