Kat Von D: Shade & Light Contour Quad

I’ve been going a little makeup purchase crazy lately, there are so many things that I want to try and get a chance to review it for you guys!

Kat Von D Cosmetics came out with 4 different Shade + Light Contour Quads. Each one focuses on a certain eye color; brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes, and a quad that will be fit for any eye color. Since I have brown eyes, that is the quad I chose! And today I’m gonna show you it, talk about it, and recreate the guide look!

I love how simple and clean the contour quads are, and they enhance the eye color beautifully. This quad comes with 4 matte shades, the perfect shades to contour the eye, and enhance your eye color. Each color is creamy and highly pigmented, and perfect for everyday.

Base/Define/Contour/Highlight

You can’t truly see the greatness of a palette/quad until you apply it on yourself first! Using the makeup guide in the quad, I followed exact instructions with a few add-ons.

With this quad not only does it help emphasize your eye color, it also teaches you how to contour your eyes, to narrow them, widen them more and fully define them!

To prime the eyes I used TooFaced: Shadow Insurance all over the lid, and under the eyes.

To emphasize the shadows I applied a bold sticky base to the lids. I used NYX: Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk.

Following the eye guide, apply Base all over the lid, up to the brow-bone. Next take Highlight apply in to the brow-bone and inner part of the eye lids. Apply Contour to the outer corner of your eyes, and blend outward towards your temples. Using a careful hand, press Define along the top and bottom lash-line.

I did the look first with the base and shadows.

And I figured it wasn’t a full look without a little liner and mascara. For liner I used Maybelline: Waterproof Gel Pencil in Glazed Toffee. Just along my water-line. And TooFaced: Better Than Sex Mascara, on both top and bottom lashes.

And so this is the look I like the most.
