Holy Grail Makeup Products
It's hard to find products you love so much that you continue to purchase them in the future. Some people have 1 holy grail product and others have like 20. Me...I have about 5. Which are the exact 5 items I'm going to talk about in todays post.
Now what exactly are "Holy Grail" products you ask? They're items/products that you love so much, and that have worked so well for you, that you continue to purchase that same product every time you run out. You enjoy it so much that you don't want to try something new, or try to replace it. Granted I always try new products, BUT I always make sure to have these products on standby.
Pacifica: Cherry Velvet Matte Translucent Setting Powder
I can't speak for everyone that wears makeup, but most people consider Laura Mercier: Translucence Powder to be their holy grail setting powder. I used to be part of that group, but it was always out of stock whenever I ran out and needed more. So I did some research and came upon this setting powder from Pacifica. And I haven't looked back since I first bought it. For starters it smells AMAZING, it blends out really well. My skin feels super smooth and soft, and when I take pictures, I don't get any bright powder flashback that you sometimes get when you take pictures with flash. It's super accessible, I always get mine at Ulta, but you can also purchase it from Target! I like using a powder stippling brush when applying it, and a lot goes along way.
Maybelline: Master Prime-Hydrate + Smooth Face Primer
I have extremely sensitive skin, I'm also super picky when it comes to face primers. I've tried so many over the years, and let me tell you....I hate that weird silicone feeling some primers have. Some people might love that feeling, to them it feels super smooth. To me, it just feels slick and weird. I was working in the beauty department at Target when I discovered this Maybelline primer, I liked that it was inexpensive, easy to find (being at Target) and it truly works so well. I feel like I don't even have to use my normal moisturizer when applying this before my makeup. I mean I still do, but that's how hydrated it makes my skin! My foundation applies evenly, and smooth. I generally apply it with my fingers. But you can definitely apply it with a sponge/brush.
Arches & Halos: Luxury Brow Building Pomade in Espresso
As you can see it's well loved.. haha. I used to use the brow pomade from Anastasia but it dried out way too quickly. Once again when I worked at Target we got this in as a new brand, and I'm very happy with it. I haven't had it dry out yet, and I don't go through it super quick because I haven't been applying makeup too often since COVID19. I also have a hard time finding dark brown brow products that don't have red undertones, or tints in them. Luckily this one doesn't! It's pigmented enough to have strong bold brows, but it's also workable enough to have a subtle tint to my brows. I use a angled brow brush when applying this.
Fenty Beauty: Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter Duo in Sand Castle + Mint'd Mojito
I've tried plenty of highlighters, and let me tell you, they have never been as pigmented as this Fenty Beauty highlighter. I'm pretty sure I could blind someone with it haha. If I could afford all of Fenty Beauty's highlighters, I would own them all right now. But I'm being smart, sorta with my money. Fenty's highlighters are super pigmented, smooth, almost creamy. And blends beautifully. I use a small tapered brush when applying it.
Benefit: Bad Gal Bang 24 Hour Eye Pencil in Pitch Black
I have a love hate relationship with eyeliner. Generally by the end of the day the liner and smeared all over, and it's just not a good look. I've used Urban Decay: 24/7 Liner before and I still had the smearing issue. Then I got this Benefit liner in a travel size kit, and I instantly fell in love with it. It has really good staying power and it's a really rich dark black. I usually only use it on my water line and tight line, but it works well along the top lash line too, it does set quickly though, so you have to work fast.
Those are my 5 Holy Grail Makeup products, tell me yours in the comments! Maybe I can find some new products to try from you guys!
