Getaway to Santa Cruz Part 1: Cottage in the Woods
For my birthday this year, my boyfriend took me to Santa Cruz. And there are a lot of elements to this trip, so I decided to break it up into parts! I’m going to start with where we stayed: an Airbnb in the Redwoods. Specifically Scotts Valley, CA. We’ve never stayed in an Airbnb, but I thought it would be a better experience than an uncomfortable, crowded hotel. It was a surprise to where we would be staying, and Sean didn’t disappoint with the location he chose! It also had WiFi, which is always a plus in my book.
We got the whole guest house to ourselves! And the best part? We were surrounded by redwoods, it was gorgeous and so refreshing.
The guest house is a 2 story, both floors have sliding glass doors which lead out to small patios. The upstairs patio has a really cute seated area! Perfect for just spending time outside enjoying the breezy summer weather.
The guest house has a cute little kitchen/dining area. Equipped with a small seated area, sink, mini fridge, microwave, crock-pot and all the kitchen utensils you need.
Let’s move on to the downstairs! Probably my favorite part, why? Because it stays so nice and cold down there! It’s also the bedroom and bathroom section of the guest house.
My biggest pet peeve with hotels/motels is their sheets and comforters. They’re never thick enough or soft enough. Staying here, it felt like I was at home! There were even extra blankets in case we got cold.
I think the bathroom is my absolute favorite. I wasn’t expecting there to be products to use (so of course I packed ALL the essentials that I didn’t really need…) There was even a normal sized blow dryer (unlike hotel ones) and a straightener.
I was so excited that there was a bath tub, I wish I would have known! I would have brought some fun bath bombs from Lush..
So my goal was to sign that guest book, but I failed and didn’t…. that just means we have to go back! But it was definitely fun reading what past guests wrote.
All in all this was one of my favorites places to stay, that I have stayed at in years. This post isn’t sponsored in anyway, but I wanted to share this experience with you, in case you were maybe on the fence about staying in one. It is pricier than a hotel, but it’s so much more comfortable, and relaxed.
If you’re looking to stay somewhere close to Santa Cruz I definitely recommend this place! Cottage in the Redwoods Airbnb
