Blogging: The Struggle is real

I was reading a blog post the other day, courtesy of the lovely Emily Clare” and it got me thinking about a lot about how people still don’t quite understand the hard work of blogging and social media careers. I feel like people view “Blogging Careers” like some people view “Stay at Home Moms”, like yeah we may be at home, but we are working our butts off to bring amazing content to the world. I wanted to break this post down into sections. Because there are so many different aspects that go into just 1 blog post!

“Coming up with blog posts is so easy!”…Sorry to disappoint you, but that is very very wrong. You want your content and social media posts to be custom to you! If blog posts were sooo easy to come up with, we’d all post the exact same thing! Now yes, us Beauty Bloggers may post about similar topics, but each of us have our own twist and personal touches to them.

I spend hours on social media looking at the newest beauty trends for the season. Or what brand new product everyone is talking about. I also love coming up with blog series’. Like the Wild Bird series I’m working on at the moment. It’s all about what you WANT to write about, and what your audience will want to read about. I love my stationary…I have way to many notebooks that I use for my blog, but when I think of an idea, or see something cool, I write it down!

You can’t have awesome blog posts without amazing, eye catching photos! Now there are tons of bloggers that use professional cameras. But I haven’t gotten to that level, so I use my trusty iPhone 7, and I see nothing wrong with that! I only get 2 days off from my other job, and I like to use a couple hours of those days to take pictures for my blog posts and social media platforms.

But how do you create pretty pictures? Props of course! I absolutely love using fun props to give my pictures more creativity and edge. You can stick with the same props to keep all the pictures uniform, or you can choose props that correlate with the season or holidays! I love switching up props, gives a great deal of variety. You can literally get your photography props from ANYWHERE! From your own home decor stash, to Target, Michael’s, and the Dollar Tree. There is no limit on what you can use, and where to get it!

Along with the best camera and good props, you need the best way to edit the photos! I love using Snapseed, Typorama, and BeautyPlus to edit my photos. What are your favorite photo editing apps?

You’re probably sitting there freaking out about how there isn’t enough time in the day and week to create good content. Is that what’s stopping you?! Don’t let it! You don’t have to write up a post in 1 single day! I work another job and only have 2 days off. So I take full advantage of those 2 days off to work on my blog and social media.

When I do a makeup look for my blog, I take all the photos as I go. And then type up the content the next day. This way you aren’t too stressed about finishing a post, or wondering how to create the perfect social media post all in a few hours. I usually edit my photos right away. But I think up the content on what I’m going to write about on Instagram for that post a few days later. And I save all the hashtags I want to use for that post in my Notes. This way when I post my pictures, I’m not wasting time stressing about the perfect things to write. It’s already saved on my phone ready to copy!

Laying in bed with no desire to type or think of post ideas? That’s okay! You are not a failure! I have days like that all the time! But what gets me motivated is seeing how many days it has been since posted my last blog post or social media post. If it’s been 2 days then I let it slide, if it been like 4 days, I get my butt moving! I don’t like falling behind with my social media, and blog. I like staying relevant AND being relevant.

My motivation comes from worrying about being forgotten, and proving people wrong “Oh there’s that girl that doesn’t care enough to post more than once a week”. I want people to think “Oh there’s the girl that’s so consistent on her blog! Where does she get the motivation!” If you want a successful Blogging Career, or Social Media career, you gotta keep posting! This way you aren’t forgotten on the internet!
